Hamburg, 5 October 2015 – Ferag developed the HPC High Performance Conveyor and HPS High Performance Stacker for the emerging markets. But newspaper printers in the Western industrialized nations are just as interested in the new technology.

The high-performance technology from Ferag AG is enjoying the same level of interest in the emerging markets as from newspaper printers in the Western industrialized nations.

Customers in the emerging markets have often expressed a wish to modernize their newspaper production processes with quality products from Swiss manufacturer Ferag AG. Ferag has responded with its high-performance system. The high-performance technology is now enjoying the same level of interest in the emerging markets as from newspaper printers in the Western industrialized nations. In Germany, Dierichs Druck+Media GmbH & Co. KG of Kassel has installed an HPC High Performance Conveyor, E. Holterdorf GmbH & Co. KG in Oelde is producing its newspaper Die Glocke on an HPS High Performance Stacker, while in Haldensleben, Druckhaus Rieck is producing advertising freesheets on two HPS High Performance Stackers. In Italy, Società Tipografico Editrice Capitolina S.p.A. is running production on two HPC High Performance Conveyors, and in the USA, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is operating with four HPS High Performance Stackers. In India, the relatively young newspaper.

Built to be tough
The HPC High Performance Conveyor transports newspaper products at speeds up to 90,000 copies an hour. The design of the chain and grippers is completely new. Thanks to its robust construction, the HPC High Performance Conveyor guarantees stable production, even under heavy loads.

The HPS High Performance Stacker is a programmable compensating stacker for standard bundles and odd counts. With a bundle cycle of 1.2 seconds, output is 25 bundles a minute. Servo drives for the table turning and lifting sequences and for the lateral bundle ejection belts are based on tried-and-tested MultiStack technology. In addition to saving energy, the servo drives also assure high bundle quality.

Navigator Light with options
For programmed bundle production on the HPS High Performance Stacker, and for inline topsheet printing, Ferag AG is offering Navigator Light, a starter version with multi-touch control. The modular design allows functions – zoned insert production, single-copy addressing, etc. – to be activated at a later point in time, as and when required. The HPC High Performance Conveyor and HPS High Performance Stacker can be integrated into extended system structures – inserting, stitching, trimming, etc. – for offline processing.
