Andrew Miller

CEO, Guardian Media Group, UK

Andrew was appointed chief executive officer of Guardian Media Group (GMG) in July 2010, having joined the Group in August 2009 as chief financial officer.

Owned by the Scott Trust, which exists to secure the independence of the Guardian in perpetuity, GMG has a portfolio of assets and investments which provide financial stability for its core business, Guardian News & Media (GNM).

GNM is the publisher of guardian.co.uk, one of the world’s leading news websites, and the Guardian and Observer newspapers.

Alongside Alan Rusbridger, editor-in-chief of GNM, Andrew recently announced a major transformation programme that will see GNM change from a print-based organisation to one that is digital-first in philosophy and practice.

Prior to GMG, Andrew was chief financial officer of Trader Media Group (TMG) for six years. During this time he played a leading role in Auto Trader’s highly successful transition from print to digital publishing (over 90% of TMG’s profit is now generated through digital channels), and in the sale of 49.9% of TMG to Apax Partners for circa £700 million. He was also interim chief executive officer for a period.

Andrew has previously worked at Pepsico’s Frito-Lay division, Bass PLC and Procter & Gamble. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland, having gained his accountancy qualification with Price Waterhouse.
