Born in Kuwait in 1947, Tony Jashanmal did his intermediate school in India, High School in Villars, Switzerland and completed his university education with a Masters Degree in Economics (Diplom Volkswirt) from Hamburg University.

Tony started his career with the Jashanmal Group of Companies in 1971 and is presently Board Member of the Jashanmal Group which has retail and wholesale distribution businesses throughout the Arabian Gulf as well as India.  An important division is the Press and Books Distribution.

Presently Tony is the worldwide President of Zurich based Distripress which is the largest organization of companies involved in the wholesale and retail distribution of print media internationally.  Distripress also champions the promotion of press freedom worldwide.

Married and with one son and one daughter.  His son is following the Jashanmal family heritage and is an active member of staff in the Jashanmal team heading the Group’s Press and Book Distribution activities.   His daughter is pursuing post graduate studies in neuropsychology in New York

Tony is a keen traveler and is often invited to speak on retail issues in the Gulf as well as Family businesses and the development and changes within the “merchant” retail families.
