Summary

A newspaper offset rotary press is always a major investment for a newspaper. That is why every effort must be made to ensure a careful planning at all project stages in order to guarantee an optimum result. IFRA has been asked many times whether general instructions - including measurable characteristics with achievable, numerical values - can be given. This Special Report concentrates on acceptance testing of a newspaper offset rotary press and includes a checklist of important press components that have to be specified in the purchasing con- tract as well as general information for the commissioning period. The IFRA Rotary Press Committee has discussed the issue and this report is based on the practical experiences from both the printers’ and press manufacturers’ points of view. It has to he pointed out that this Special Report gives guidelines, and the final test procedure, quality and productivity parameters with their respective values and tolerances have to he agreed in each case between the contract partners.
