09.09.11 - Direktwerbung Bayern GmbH, a company owned by Mediengruppe Pressedruck in Augsburg, has changed from manual to automatic processing using an EasySert inserting line from Ferag AG, Hinwil, Switzerland. Inclusive the FlyStream precollecting system along with 32 JetFeeder type hopper stations and two MultiStack compensating stackers, the installation in the Augsburg printing centre is, at some 40 metres, at present the longest of its kind and can process some 800,000 brochures an hour. At the same time, it is seen as a pilot installation by the German direct-mail industry, on which Direktwerbung Bayern GmbH assembles its new Regio Mag. product.

Regio Mag. is a four-page A4 folder that currently reaches 500,000 households on Saturdays. The goal is to increase that figure to 550,000 or the equivalent number of copies. This four-page cover accommodates separate sheets and multi-page supplements from the advertising industry. Regio Mag. Spezial, on the other hand, is available to customers as an inexpensive alternative to corporate publishing. Each distribution day sees the processing of around 5 million brochures. What once represented manual work for the 5000 delivery staff is now automatic – amounting to 250 different sets of folder contents.

Thanks to the automatic solution, the probability of defective collections has been reduced to almost zero, with the FlyStream precollecting system and its integrated Intelligent Repair Control also contributing to the reduction during the collection process. Thanks to EasySert and the product concept, in addition to the improvement in quality there is also less work for the delivery personnel. A logistical advantage is also achieved thanks to the narrowed-down production time window. It is the stable performance that makes the EasySert inserting line a winner, along with the very high efficiency and simplicity of the concept.
