WAN-IFRA in partnership with Sida is pleased to announce the launch of nominations for the Women in News Editorial Leadership Award. The award recognises an exemplary contribution of an Editor to her newsroom and under her leadership, the contribution of her newspaper to society. Two women in 2017 will be recognised as leaders, one being from sub-Saharan Africa and one from the Middle East and North Africa region.

Three years ago when WIN Graduate Emelda Libanga joined the Women In News (WIN) programme, she was subeditor at the Zambia Daily Mail. Today she is editor of the Sunday Mail, a position that brings about many more challenges and responsibilities, but also the possibility for real impact and change.

News organisations based in Kenya and Malawi are currently working with WAN-IFRA to further develop mobile technologies that will create a sustainable and profitable base for future independent journalism projects.
