    (UPM, Helsinki, 12 January 2020 at 11:00 EET) – UPM has signed a long-term Wind Power Purchase agreement with German wind park development company wpd. The use of renewable wind power for UPM’s paper mills will help reduce CO2 emissions by 200,000 tonnes annually as of 2022, representing 5% of UPM’s total CO2 emissions.     04.02.2020 – British media group News UK has pledged to remove all single-use plastic in its newspaper products by mid-2020. This was the reason for Ferag bringing in an additional EasySert inserting drum for the Newsprinters production site at Knowsley, near Liverpool. The high-circulation Sun TV Magazine with inserts is now being packaged as a supplement to The Sun daily newspaper, rather than shipping separately in polywrapped bundles. Read more ...

    Oosterhout, 6th February 2020 – The printing company of the German newspaper Main-Post is expanding its press automation with the systems of Q.I. Press Controls (QIPC) in response to earlier convincing results. The mRC-3D and IDS-3D systems of the Dutch specialist in measurement and control equipment for the printing industry will be installed in Würzburg, in central Germany.     Montréal, Jan. 30, 2020 /CNW Telbec/ – Resolute Forest Products Inc. (NYSE: RFP) (TSX: RFP) today reported a net loss for the quarter ended December 31, 2019, of $71 million, or $0.79 per share, compared to net income of $36 million, or $0.38 per diluted share, in the same period in 2018. Sales were $668 million in the quarter, a decrease of $264 million from the year-ago period. The fourth quarter of 2018 included sales from the Catawba (South Carolina) and Fairmont (West Virginia) facilities, which were sold in that period. Excluding special items, the company reported a net loss of $53 million, or $0.59 per share, compared to net income of $4 million, or $0.04 per diluted share, in the fourth quarter of 2018.
