The 22-year old was shot in the upper right thigh while filming pro-reform protests last Saturday. According to news reports, Al Samadi was wounded by unidentified assailants in a Toyota Land Cruiser who began shooting live ammunition at the protesters. Al Samadi's death due to complications from his injury was later announced at Salmaniya Hospital.
"Al Samadi, who had been filming protests in Salmabad since the country's uprising began in February 2011, was well-known among journalists for documenting unrest", Adel Marzooq, president of the London-based Bahrain Press Association, told Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ).
