As the Yahoo News Digest Managing Editor for Southeast Asia, Marc is responsible for overseeing editorial operations of the app in Asia. This includes building a dedicated editorial team from ground up, working in tandem with teams in the US and the Europe to ensure seamless and continuous coverage of international news events as well as with marketing and communications teams to promote and inform the public about the Digest app. On a product level, he liaises with engineering teams to ensure the app remains cutting-edge and constantly updated to fit the needs of the user.

In his previous role as the Editorial & Audience lead for Yahoo Malaysia, Marc was responsible for overseeing Yahoo’s editorial direction, content support and audience engagement in Malaysia. In his role, Marc drove Yahoo’s position as the country’s largest digital media company (by audience traffic volume, as per Comscore), a key starting point for consumers going online, a powerful means of reaching target audiences for advertisers and a partner of choice for publishers and developers.

Prior to joining Yahoo in January 2011, Marc spent over seven years in the media industry.

In his years as a journalist in The Star and the New Straits Times, Marc covered the crime and general news beats and reported on the Gaza conflict in 2008/2009. He also wrote a regular column for the New Straits Times.

In 2009, Marc was chosen to be part of the Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship, spending the better part of that year working as a reporter at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch in Missouri.

Prior to joining Yahoo, he had a short stint in the TV industry, working as a News Producer for Bernama TV.

Marc holds ‘A’ levels in Business and Law from Cambridge University and has completed professional journalism courses from Poynter University in Florida and the Missouri School of Journalism. He is also a multiple Malaysian Press Institute award nominee in the fields of international reporting, column writing and investigative reporting as well as being shortlisted for the institute’s Young Journalist of the Year award.
