Meinolf Ellers has been working for dpa since 1985 and is currently Managing Director of the group’s wholly owned subsidiaries dpa infocom and dpa media technology. He is co-founder of two important initiatives: MINDS Int. is a digital technology network of 22 leading international news agencies and WAN-Ifra leaders programme Go Local which aims to create local value and business in the digital world. His vision is to see the establishment of virtual newsroom cooperatives which will allow newspapers and agencies to share resources and infrastructure in a virtual newsroom, allowing them to reduce costs without neglecting quality. A pilot project with the "Main-Post" newspaper in Würzburg has been so successful that is about to be tested on a dozen newspapers.
