Introduction to Event
Introduction
Instructed by award-winning photographer, Pete Muller, this workshop aims to impart both practical and conceptual skills in modern photography.
Participants will learn to garner support from editorial and marketing teams by refining story ideas and connecting them to the broader trends in global discourse. Participants will critically engage with their own and that of industry leaders in order to better understand what works and why. Participants will produce a short project for peer and instructor review and learn new perspectives on the evolving technical landscape of digital media.
Course Outline
- Discuss topic selection, research on background, connecting stories and interests to broader trends
- Identifying the critical difference between a topic and a story
- How to refine ideas and ensure photographic success
- Review and critique of winning photographic stories published
- Analyze published stories and identify their success
- Identify photography tools, collaborations, technical elements of images and using media in support of vision
- Examine the use of multimedia and video photography
- On-the-field assignment
