As stated on the company's website, in December 2010, News Corporation became the first global media company to achieve carbon neutral – net zero carbon emissions - through a combination of energy efficiency, renewable energy and carbon offset projects around the world.

In their carbon footprint analysis it is stated that in fiscal year 2010, News Corporation's carbon footprint was 584,332 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalents, compared to 617,902 metric tons in fiscal year 2009. By offsetting unavoidable emissions, News Corp reached the net zero emissions status. This has been verified by Cventure LLC, an expert third party, to ensure the company has purchased enough carbon credits to offset the entirety of its carbon footprint in fiscal year 2010.
