08.03.11 - Coldset Printing Partners, the joint venture between Concentra and Corelio, two of Belgium’s leading media companies, is opting for Ferag technology. In the Paal-Beringen printing centre, Ferag technology has long been in use. These installations have been continuously updated and extended over the years.

The Ferag technology comes with an excellent cost-benefit ratio, says Coldset Printing Partners Managing Director Paul Huybrechts. In the case of the new lines, he is especially pleased “with the way StreamFold gives products an absolutely precise third fold, even at high speed.” This quarterfold line has been integrated into the existing Ferag installations and is fed online. When it comes to programmed bundling, print products coming through direct broadsheet production and also quarterfold processing in StreamFold are allocated to the same MultiStack group – a configuration that has advantages in terms of high production security, flexibility and efficiency.

In the printing centre dating from 1998, Coldset Printing Partners print the publisher’s own newspaper titles like the Gazet van Antwerpen and Het Belang van Limburg on four web-offset machines. Then there are freesheets like Metro, De Streekkrant, De Weekkrant and De Zondag. This latter title is available for collection at bakeries each Sunday – a proven yet still unique distribution concept. Part circulations of the Wall Street Journal Europe and sports newspaper L'Equipe are produced under contract. Which means that four million newspapers are printed and processed each week.

Even after a short period, the collaboration between Concentra and Corelio as Coldset Print Partners is described by both sides as intensive. Joint utilization of state-of-the-art production technology strengthens their position both in the Belgium marketplace and beyond the country’s borders.
