Publisher of Tunisian daily Attounissia, Nasreddine Ben Saida fined by a Tunis court for publishing a "provocative" photo.

On 15 February the newspaper published a photo of German-Tunisian footballer Sami Khedira embracing an unclothed model on its front page. Within hours, the issue was seized from the newsstands by authorities and Ben Saida, along with the newspaper’s editor Habib Guizani and one of its journalists, Mohammed Hedi Hidri, were arrested.

Guizani and Hidri were released shortly after, however, Ben Saida was kept in police custody and later referred to court.

After going on a hunger strike, the publisher was granted a provisional release on 24 February by Tunis judge Faouzi Jebali, who postponed Ben Saida's trial to 8 March.

The court fined Mr Saida 1,000 dinars (500 euros) and his lawyers are now appealing this decision.
