Ten years ago, the Posten AB subsidiary had already begun to insert brochures into a cover, delivering them to the recipient packaged in this way. By 2009 the company had brought the successful concept a stage further and introduced a corresponding four-page cover titled Uppslaget onto the market, appearing twice weekly to reach some 3.1 million households in all of Sweden. Since the start of the project, the company has inserted the brochures automatically, although it was coming up against its limits in this respect. Which is why Mail Sweden launched a pilot project to install a modern and efficient inserting system at the Alvesta facility in the south of Sweden.
Within the context of an EU-compliant tendering process, Ferag was able to win through with the EasySert inserting system. A special challenge for both sides was the implementation of sorting that takes account of the postman’s walk-sequence. The result is a reduction in the workload at the local distribution centres, as well as a boost to efficiency on the final mile to the recipient.. Of course, walk-sequence sorting requires precise production planning so that frequent changes on the hoppers can be avoided. Here, the Navigator control supports the user with its Optimizer application.
Because lawmakers in Sweden place high demands on the ergonomic layout of the workplace environment, Ferag was required to demonstrate that EasySert, and particularly the JetFeeder hoppers, meet the strict ergonomic guidelines issued by the EU. The clever design of the JetFeeders reduces physical stress for employees. Mail Sweden had the ergonomics of EasySert tested by an outside organization, which confirmed that the solution meets all EU requirements to the letter.
