Roaya was born out of revolution and has stood the test of Libya's transition to democracy to become a strong investigative voice in the post-Gaddafi era. Editor-in-chief, Khaled Ateea, joined WAN-IFRA’s Media Professionals Programme at the beginning of 2012 and has spent a year developing the business side of his newspaper.

 


Media Professionals Programme Gives Egyptian Journalist a Business Edge

When Fatemah Farag launched her hyperlocal news company Welad Elbalad Media Services in April 2012, she approached the project foremost as a journalist. With a twenty-year career writing for a host of international and local publications behind her, Farag wanted to give voice to people and regions often overlooked in the traditional media.
