With its acquisition of Flexotecnica, a manufacturer of specialised printing presses, Koenig & Bauer has indicated its intention to expand its existing broad portfolio by entering the growing market for flexible packaging.

Healthy finances (see information about the preliminary figures for 2012) make it possible for Koenig & Bauer AG to invest, according to a KBA press release. With the planned acquisition of a majority share in Flexotecnica (a Cerutti subsidiary), the company see good possibilities, by using its own international oganisation, to expand its strong market position in the folding carton market to the growing packaging  segment. The takeover price is reported to be "in the upper single-digit million range". The move has already been agreed to by the KBA supervisory board but is subject to the approval of the antitrust authorities that is still outstanding.
