Chicago, IL 21th March 2016 – Harland Simon announces the award of a contract by Trib Total Media for the supply of new control systems for their Goss CT50 [MK II] reelstands. The project covers the supply and installation of new drives and controls for the six CT50 reelstands on their Goss Newsliner Press, once again utilizing industry standard, off-the-shelf components which will eliminate obsolete proprietary systems. In addition, splice and waste performance will be improved and maintenance time will be reduced.

As always,Trib Total Media completed an exhaustive selection process and the decision was clinched as a result of Harland Simon being the only company to have an established track record of success in control replacement for the CT45/50 range with over 100 units already installed or on order.

The Harland Simon CT reelstand controls upgrade is designed to extend the life of mechanically sound CT45 and CT50 reelstands and to offer significant performance improvements over reelstands fittedwith standard control equipment.

Main Benefits:
o    Replaces obsolete electronics with an industry standard PLC
o    Replaces existing AB 1395 belt drive module
o    Provides a user friendly HMI for improved monitoring and testing
o    Allows remote problem diagnosis and performance monitoring
o    Extension to centralized maintenance facility

The standard Harland Simon solution provides for control of the reel, tension, pasting and sequencing but will be customized to suit the specific needs of Trib Total Media. This includes a full color HMI touchscreen for comprehensive setting and diagnostic functionsto aide in maintenance operations. In addition, all reelstands will be networked to a centralized maintenance PC for support and diagnostics which is also connected to Harland Simon’s 24/7 on-line support service to enable quick fault finding and resolution if required.
