30.09.2016 – Every day, up to 60 000 bundles of newspapers and magazines are leaving the Mediaprint printing house in Vienna. Until now, the palletizing of bundles has been handled manually. To make this process more efficient and productive, the Austrian printing house has decided to automate the palletizing process and ordered a SCP – Schur Compact Palletizer.

Compact Design meets Customer Requirements
The SCP palletizing system from the Swedish manufacturer Schur Packaging Systems is characterized by its small footprint. Thanks to its compact design, the system can be easily adapted to the available space at the Vienna plant. Not at least the technology for feeding of empty pallets into the system was reconsidered and adapted to the given requirements.

Trouble-free Palletizing of Inserted Products
“Many of the newspapers that leave our printing house, include supplements. This means that bundles can vary a lot and palletizing of these bundles is not always easy to handle. However, the Schur palletizing solution can meet this challenge“, explains Ernst Mühlmann from Mediaprint. “Another important fact that speaks for automation of the palletizing process are the working conditions for our employees.  Heavy physical work will be eliminated, which contributes to a better working environment for the operator”, states Mr. Mühlmann. The new Schur palletizing system will be installed and commissioned in the end of 2016.
