August 11, 2017 – ABB, one of the leading suppliers of automation solutions for the newspaper industry, will be taking part once more at this year’s IFRA World Publishing Expo 2017 in Berlin. The focus will lie on ABB’s modular press retrofit solutions and its production management systems.

ABB has modular press control and drives retrofit solutions for newspaper presses from all leading manufacturers. These solutions, which will be presented at the expo, give press owners the opportunity to replace the controls or drives on selected press units, thereby freeing up spare parts for the rest of the press and minimizing the cost of keeping the presses in reliable production. ABB will also explain its spare part strategy, which allows it to guarantee the availability of spare parts for at least 10 years after installation.

ABB will also be showing the latest releases of its production management systems that optimize the entire newspaper production process. In particular this will be the first public showing of release 6 of the press management system MPS Production. This latest release sees the transfer of the entire system to the PostgreSQL database. This provides an ideal basis for the virtualization of the system while retaining all the functionality and advantages of MPS Production 5.
