Journalist and teacher, Cristiane is currently a researcher at the CECS (Centre of Studies in Communication and Society at the University of Minho, Portugal) where she  is pursuing Ph.D in the field of media literacy. Cristiane was coordinator of the newspapers in education program in Brazil from 2008 until September of 2013 when the projects won many national and international prizes. She also headed some newspaper’s actions for and with children and was one of the founders of the Brazilian Association of Researchers and Professionals in Educomunication. For 15 years she has worked, spoken and wrote about the children´s right, young readers and media literacy. She coordinates a blog called Media and Education (culturamidiaeducacao.blogspot.com) to share information about these areas.
