Lior Kodner is a specialist in digital media. As the Chief Digital Officer at Haaretz, Israel’s most prestigious newspaper, Lior leads all of the Haaretz's new media endeavors, from its business, editorial, marketing and technology aspects.

 

Under Lior's direction, Haaretz.co.il and Haaretz.com recently launched the first paywalls in Israel, requiring users to pay a subscription fee to get full access. In May 2013 this move won the "most innovative launch" prize from the Israeli Marketing Association. 



 

Lior started his career in the Israeli army radio station, Galei Tzahal, as a legal reporter, editor and anchor. Following his army service, he joined Haaretz and became the newspaper's youngest ever news desk director. He was later appointed as Foreign Editor for the paper and interviewed many world leaders, including the Dalai Lama, the British Prime Minister and Google's co-founder. While living in Silicon Valley (2009-2010), he served as special consultant and new media advisor to the Israeli Foreign Office and was responsible for developing its social media strategies for the entire North America region.



 

Lior holds a BA in Economics and Political Science, as well as an MA in Political Science, both from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. He is currently pursuing an international executive MBA from Northwestern and Tel Aviv universities, in the Kellogg-Recanati program. He is fluent in Hebrew, English, Russian and French.
