Michael Ludewig is Head of the Foreign Desk and Deputy Chief Editor of the Deutsche Presse Agentur (dpa). After a newspaper internship and training at the School of Journalism in Hamburg, he first joined the magazine "stern," then the news agency ddp and later on the newspaper Mitteldeutsche Zeitung. Ludewig went to dpa in 1997, where from 2000 to 2003 he worked as regional office manager for Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. He subsequently performed the same duties for the south-west region (Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland). Since 2006, Mr. Ludewig has been a member of the dpa chief editorship, since the beginning of 2011 Deputy Chief Editor. In the past 10 years he has played a major role in all important modernisation projects at dpa, including the building-up of the new newsroom in Berlin.
