Nearly 40 years experience in the newspaper and media publishing industry and with an editorial background working in Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union.  Mike’s current position is IT Director (Core) responsible for Johnston Press Core systems within a Bimodal IT department. Johnston Press titles include the The Scotsman, Yorkshire Post, Lancashire Evening Post and Sheffield Star daily titles and many weekly publications.  He previously manage the migration to digital newsrooms in the Newsroom of the Future project which trained journalists in multimedia and deployed hundreds of editing suites and video equipment across the business.

Mike moved the groups’ 300+ newspapers onto the Atex Editorial system, and replaced the desktop publishing tool from Quark to InDesign along with a full redesign of print and web titles.

Mike manages the Group IT Service Desk supporting over 5000 customers and a team of Incident Management Analysts. He also manages teams with responsibility for technically supporting all applications in Editorial and Prepress.
