Paul Jansen was an award-winning journalist with Singapore Press Holdings. A newspaperman with decades of experience in print, he also has a deep understanding of the Internet and mobile platforms, having pioneered initiatives in both. He was founding editor of the online version of The Straits Times and a key member of the team which won a mobile license in Singapore, which led to the creation of a S$2.3 billion telco. A believer in the power of data to transform businesses, he co-founded aSpecial Media Pte Ltd in 2011. It tracks the behaviour of people online, and uses this to boost the value of publishers' ad spaces as well as the effectiveness of advertisers' expenditures. When not evangelising the benefits of data collection and analysis, Paul is usually in the air. A keen aviator with his own plane, he shares his experiences through Merawan, a website he founded for pilots in Southeast Asia.
