Rodd K Winscott

President – Topweb LCC, Printing Division, USA

Rodd joined Topweb LLC (formerly Newsweb) 18 years ago, coming from New Jersey where he was Vice President/General Manager of Able Printing/Shoppers Guide and with USA TODAY before that. He has held board positions on a number of Chicago-based organizations, including the formerly known Printing Industry of Illinois and Indiana (now the Great Lakes Graphic Association). Rodd is also involved with the Graphic Technology Advisory Board for the College of DuPage and was recently appointed to the State of Illinois CR-P (Curriculum Revitalization Project) task force.

Topweb LLC is a commercial printer that specializes in newspapers, journals and a variety of cold web offset products. In 1998, as a response to its clients increased need for four colour printing, Topweb LLC expanded its press capacity to accommodate a growing demand for colour advertising.

In 2004, Topweb LLC began looking at digital web printing but felt the technology had not reached the tipping point where smaller publishers could take advantage of the units that were being offered.

Winscott feels that “if we are going to continue to offer our clients the most cost effective and innovative method of producing their newspapers and other media related products we must offer the digital option. It will be important to educate our clients on the marketing and best utilization of digital printing.”

Topweb plans to develop and hold clinics for their clients which will demonstrate new and exciting revenue generation ideas for the newspapers.

Rodd lives in North Aurora, a Chicago suburb, with his wife, Christine, and three children. He also has two adult children living in the Chicago area as well.
