Introduction to Event

This workshop will help the designers and editors to understand the opportunities available for presenting news and features in tablets and how to make the most of it. The workshop will also look into tablet user mindset, expectations and experiences. Participants will be able to understand the ergonomic demands of tablet design, how it’s form and size create unique design considerations in content layout, information hierarchy, visual design components and skeuomorphism.

Sarah Sampsel

Director – Digital Strategy, The Washington Post, USA

Sarah Sampsel is the Director of Digital Strategy at The Washington Post. She oversees design, newsroom initiatives and new products and is currently leading a rethink of The Post's web platforms. Sarah recently relocated to New York City to expand The Post's design and development office. She and her team are responsible for the UX strategy and design of all The Post's digital offerings as well as coming up with new innovative methods of storytelling and presentation across platforms. Prior to this, she served as the Director of Digital Design where she built and managed an innovation-focused team of 10 amazing designers, technologists and journalists. In addition to her role at The Post, she has taught web design classes at Georgetown University.
