    Kinna, June 4, 2015 – The Västerslätt industrial area, northwest of the centre of Umeå, is the location of the “Nya VK huset” (New VK building). The area is almost completely enclosed by European highway 12 that links Norway, Sweden and Finland as well as European highway 4 that runs from the north to the south in Sweden, making this site a highly strategic location. One of the two buildings holds the headquarters and editorial offices of the Swedish dailies Västerbottens-Kuriren and Västerbottens Folkblad. In the other building, Daily Print i Umeå AB operates its newspaper printing business. Since 2006, the company is a fully-owned subsidiary of Västerbottens-Kuriren Media Aktiebolag. In addition to the Group’s own newspapers, the printing plant also prints the northern editions of the two large Swedish dailies Dagens Industri and Dagens Nyheter. Read more ...

    The Materials Management Database project was launched as a spinoff of the Newsprint and Newsink Guide. Today it is used by printers, pressroom foremen and technical management as an information source for facts and advice for dealing with the materials used in producing newspapers. Among other informaton you find the specification of the WAN-IFRA Bar Code for paper reels in this online database. Most of the entries in the database originate from the members of the Material Management Committee; some come from outside sources (as marked), after review and approval by the committee. This database is continually being updated and expanded. New entries will be marked with a label in red type.
