The World Printers Forum (WPF) is an organisation of newspaper printers and suppliers within WAN-IFRA. Its objective is to encourage innovation and productivity as well as product development that can be instrumental for publishers to exploit future oriented news media products. It promotes the power of print and the sustainability of print production.

2016-11-29 13:18Oosterhout, 29 November 2016 – The Spanish-based print concern Calprint SL has placed an order for a Performance Package from Q.I. Press Controls (QIPC). QIPC, the specialist in automation for the printing industry, is to install the IDS-3D system for colour and register control at Calprint SL's plant in Medina del Campo, close to Valladolid in the centre of Spain. It will be the first closed-loop colour control system to be installed on a coldset press in the country. 2016-11-23 14:0923.11.2016 – After almost 35 years, Centro Stampa Veneto has decided to retire its old flexo newspaper press and to switch to offset. The Commander 3/2 which is to be installed by KBA-Digital & Web Solutions will be coming on stream in Mestre near Venice in summer 2017. The new press is able to print up to 80,000 four-colour tabloid newspapers per hour (format: 440 x 300 mm / 17.3 x 11.8 in). For the president of the Caltagirone publishing group, Dr. Azzurra Caltagirone, the decision to work with Koenig & Bauer was only logical: “We were looking for a partner we could rely on also in the future. 2016-11-23 12:48Oosterhout, 22 November 2016 – The Slovenian printing concern, Salomon Print, is set to replace the outdated automation system which is currently in use on its press. The Ljubljana-based concern has placed an order with Q.I. Press Controls (QIPC), the Dutch specialist in automation solutions for the printing industry. QIPC is to fit two mRC-3D cameras for colour register and two for cut-off register on the company's manroland ROTOMAN N press in Slovenia. 2016-11-17 11:5616.11.2016 – Bei den Druck&Medien Awards 2016 der Fachzeitschrift Deutscher Drucker wurde am 3. November im Rahmen einer festlichen Gala in Berlin mit der Freiburger Druck GmbH & Co. KG (Badische Zeitung) bereits zum sechsten Mal ein kreativer und erfolgreicher Anwender der wasserlos produzierenden Offsetrotation KBA Cortina als „Zeitungsdrucker des Jahres“ ausgezeichnet. Den Award in Bronze in dieser Kategorie belegte mit der Druckerei Konstanz (Südkurier) ebenfalls ein engagierter Cortina-Anwender. Die Akzidenzdruckerei Aumüller Druck GmbH & Co. KG in Regensburg erhielt den von der KBA Deutschland GmbH gesponserten Preis „Umweltorientiertes Unternehmen des Jahres“. The International Color Quality Club is the only worldwide printing quality competition for newspapers and magazines. Its goal is to improve the quality of reproduction and printing in production, while also increasing competitiveness as well as training and motivating all personnel.

The Materials Management Database project was launched as a spinoff of the Newsprint and Newsink Guide. Today it is used by printers, pressroom foremen and technical management as an information source for facts and advice for dealing with the materials used in producing newspapers. Among other informaton you find the specification of the WAN-IFRA Bar Code for paper reels in this online database. Most of the entries in the database originate from the members of the Material Management Committee; some come from outside sources (as marked), after review and approval by the committee. This database is continually being updated and expanded. New entries will be marked with a label in red type.
