The World Printers Forum (WPF) is an organisation of newspaper printers and suppliers within WAN-IFRA. Its objective is to encourage innovation and productivity as well as product development that can be instrumental for publishers to exploit future oriented news media products. It promotes the power of print and the sustainability of print production.

2017-05-10 11:03Würzburg, 09.05.2017 – The Supervisory Board of Koenig & Bauer AG has appointed Mr Ralf Sammeck and Mr Christoph Müller to the Executive Board with effect from 1 June 2017. As of today, Ralf Sammeck leads the Sheetfed division, and Christoph Müller the Digital & Web division. Both group management members will represent their segments in the Executive Board. Aiming at expanding new equipment sales, Ralf Sammeck has additionally taken over the coordination of global equipment sales. In order to push global service, Christoph Müller has also taken responsibility for coordinating services initiatives. The planned increase in the revenue share generated by Services to 30% by 2021 is set to achieve greater profit stability. The appointment of Ralf Sammeck and Christoph Müller to the Executive Board aims to support the implementation of the medium-term Group targets announced on 20 February 2017. By 2021, the target is to reach an annual organic growth rate of around 4% and an EBIT margin of between 4% and 9% across the Group. Of the targeted €70 million increase in earnings, approximately €20 million in either case is to be generated through service growth and the optimisation of the security printing business. 2017-05-10 10:44Würzburg, 09.05.2017 – The Koenig & Bauer group commenced on a high note in 2017, the year in which it celebrates its 200th anniversary, with a 20.7% increase in order intake to €321.5m. At €259.1m, group revenue remained at the previous year’s level, while order backlog widened by 6.4% to €619.9m. EBIT came to €5m, substantially exceeding the previous year’s figure of €2.1m. The group net profit of €4.7m (2016: €1.6m) is equivalent to earnings per share of €0.30 (2016: €0.11). Read more ...

Mai 2017 – Die technotrans AG ist besser als erwartet in das Geschäftsjahr 2017 gestartet: Der Konzern vermeldete für das erste Quartal ein Umsatzwachstum von 74 Prozent auf 52,8 Mio. Euro. Darin enthalten sind die Umsatzbeiträge der im vergangenen Jahr getätigten Akquisitionen in Höhe von 15,0 Mio. Euro. Um diese Effekte bereinigt stieg der Umsatz um 24,3 Prozent bzw. 7,4 Mio. Euro. 2017-05-05 10:3004.05.2017 – Amedia is Norway’s largest publisher of local media titles – with a daily audience of more than two million readers and users. For its printing activities in Norway Amedia Trykk og Distribusjon, one of Norway's biggest coldset newspaper printers, runs seven printing plants spread across the whole country – from Bodø in the far north to Larvik, 1200 kilometers southward. To synchronize and coordinate the overall production Amedia Trykk og Distribusjon are using MWM's cloud-based Production Planning tool (PPC). The International Color Quality Club is the only worldwide printing quality competition for newspapers and magazines. Its goal is to improve the quality of reproduction and printing in production, while also increasing competitiveness as well as training and motivating all personnel.

The Materials Management Database project was launched as a spinoff of the Newsprint and Newsink Guide. Today it is used by printers, pressroom foremen and technical management as an information source for facts and advice for dealing with the materials used in producing newspapers. Among other informaton you find the specification of the WAN-IFRA Bar Code for paper reels in this online database. Most of the entries in the database originate from the members of the Material Management Committee; some come from outside sources (as marked), after review and approval by the committee. This database is continually being updated and expanded. New entries will be marked with a label in red type.
