The World Printers Forum (WPF) is an organisation of newspaper printers and suppliers within WAN-IFRA. Its objective is to encourage innovation and productivity as well as product development that can be instrumental for publishers to exploit future oriented news media products. 2015-09-04 10:19Chicago, IL 1st September 2015 – Harland Simon is delighted to announce that they have been selected by The News Journal to replace the press control systems on its two Goss Headliner Offset (HO) with MetroColor Tower (MCT) presses with off-the-shelf locally available components. Dreieinhalb Jahre wird ihre Berufsausbildung dauern. Nach den negativen Schlagzeilen aus einigen sächsischen Städten will der Druckmaschinenhersteller, der rund 85 Prozent seiner Produkte ins Ausland exportiert und dessen Techniker in anderen Ländern stets willkommen sind, einen konkreten Beitrag zur Verbesserung der Situation von Flüchtlingen leisten und aktiv zu ihrer Integration beitragen. In times of extreme reluctance to invest, one or two press orders are often already sufficient to secure a misleadingly larger share of the cake. Such snapshots generally say little about a manufacturer's longer-term technological standing on the market. 2015-09-01 14:37Oosterhout, 1st September 2015 – Update: Q.I. Press Controls received an expansion order from Baghdad, Iraq. The Iraqi Media Network (IMN) ordered four mRC+ colour register camera’s with ink mist shields. The colour register system will be installed on IMN’s KBA Comet printing press on two additional towers. This is the second order placed by the group and is an expansion of the already present Q.I. Press Controls’ system. IMN is a news and entertainment group funded by the government of USA that transmits the value of transparency. The printing division of the group publishes the Al-Sabah (‘morning’) newspaper and several magazines. Read more ...

2015-09-01 12:34(UPM, Helsinki, 1 September 2015) – UPM’s journey at the stock market started one hundred years ago. UPM's predecessor companies Aktiebolaget Walkiakoski and Kymmene Ab were listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange in August-September 1915. The listing is a significant example of Finnish industrialisation and economic growth as the First World War created a boom for the Finnish industry. Forest industry companies wanted to grow quickly and get additional funding for investments. The trend toward consolidation of newspaper printing centres is slowly coming to a halt, says consultant Sabine Sirach. After all, for printed daily newspapers, there are physical limitations to the distribution distances that can be covered while still being up-to-date and relevant.

The International Color Quality Club is the only worldwide printing quality competition for newspapers and magazines. Its goal is to improve the quality of reproduction and printing in production, while also increasing competitiveness as well as training and motivating all personnel.

The Materials Management Database project was launched as a spinoff of the Newsprint and Newsink Guide. Today it is used by printers, pressroom foremen and technical management as an information source for facts and advice for dealing with the materials used in producing newspapers. Among other informaton you find the specification of the WAN-IFRA Bar Code for paper reels in this online database. Most of the entries in the database originate from the members of the Material Management Committee; some come from outside sources (as marked), after review and approval by the committee. This database is continually being updated and expanded. New entries will be marked with a label in red type.
