World Publishing Expo 2014 in Amsterdam taking shape

2014-06-24

The programme and planning for the World Publishing Expo 2014, organised by the World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) from 13 to 15 October in Amsterdam, is shaping up.

In addition to the exhibition itself – the largest annual global trade exhibition for the news publishing and media industry – the events at the RAI Exhibition Center will feature a variety of conferences and seminars, both paid and free, focusing on the major issues of concern to newspaper and news publishing executives everywhere. More than 100 speakers and presenters will be featured over the Expo’s three days.

The free events, to be held on “Media Port” stages scattered throughout the Expo, will feature collaborations between publishers and suppliers and will provide case studies of strategies and practices that can help publishers now. Individual stages will be dedicated to Content, Revenue and Print Business, the latter including a Digital Print Pavilion.

The paid events are for top-level industry executives and editors and will discuss strategies for the future of news publishing. These include the 7th Tablet & App Summit and the 12th International Newsroom Summit, which drew more than 400 participants at last year’s Expo in Berlin.

These events will be joined for the first time by a World Printers Forum conference that will give both newspaper production professionals and suppliers a place to gather and exchange ideas, create standards and develop strategies for the future of print.

The World Publishing Expo, with 300 exhibitors drawing an expected 8,000 visitors, showcases the latest technologies and brings together suppliers to the industry with its thought leaders and decision makers.  It is one of the world’s best venues for the latest developments in print, workflow efficiency, social-local-mobile, revenue generation, and more. The new Director of Exhibitions, Sergio de Oliveira, is in charge of day-to-day operations, and leads the Expo team, which includes both long-time and new WAN-IFRA staff: Gordon Steiger, Kerstin Faustino, Raquel Gonzalez, Teresa Vannicola, Virginia Melero and Christin Herger.

“The World Publishing Expo team is looking forward to welcoming and bringing together more than 8,000 publishers and decision-makers, and 300 suppliers to the media industry to the largest meet-up of the news publishing industry,” said Mr Werfel.
