2014-07-16

The World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers (WAN-IFRA) will induct 76 publishing and printing companies from 26 countries into its prestigious International Newspaper Color Quality Club during a ceremony at the World Publishing Expo, the largest global trade exhibition for the news publishing and media industry to be held in Amsterdam from 13 to 15 October next.

The members of the 2014-2016 edition of the Color Quality Club, which for two decades has recognised the world’s best color newspaper printers, have demonstrated exceptional printing quality that meets rigorous international standards and offer readers and advertisers high-quality products.

A list of the winners can be found here.

The induction will take place during a ceremony on 15 October at the World Publishing Expo. Some 8,000 visitors are expected at the Expo, which will feature more than 300 exhibitors as well as 100 speakers and presenters. Full details can be found at http://www.worldpublishingexpo.com

Once every two years for the last 20 years, WAN-IFRA has offered newspapers worldwide an opportunity to demonstrate their colour printing quality through the International Newspaper Color Quality Club. Newspapers that succeed in qualifying for inclusion can draw on this distinction to optimise their work processes, motivate their personnel, improve their standing among their readers and convince demanding advertising customers.

The Color Quality Club is more than a technical printing competition, as it offers the participating companies the additional possibility to benchmark their printing quality against recognised international standards and improve it. Detailed individual reports basis for quality optimisation founded on objective measuring methods and quality judgements by a jury composed of international experts. More on the Club can be found at http://www.wan-ifra.org/microsites/color-quality-club

“The results of the competition provide confirmation for the successful printing and publishing companies of their successful personnel motivation, correct choice of material, in-depth knowledge of the setting parameters for the entire workflow as well as their skilled use of measuring and control techniques”, said Manfred Werfel, Deputy CEO of WAN-IFRA.

This international quality initiative promotes high-quality colour newspaper printing. The growing number of newspapers going in this direction ensures that readers obtain a high-quality product and advertisers an outstanding advertising vehicle.

An exhibition and a brochure presenting the successful participants will be available at the World Publishing Expo, which brings together suppliers to the industry with its thought leaders and decision makers. Amsterdam, which has hosted the event 16 times in 44 years, more than any other venue, is one of the world’s most innovative cities and is ranked in the top 10 in the latest Innovation Cities Global Index.
