Summary

Due to the enormous increase in the use of four-colour printing in newspapers and colour advertising in other media, calls for less colour deviation and reduced colour variation in newspaper offset printing are becoming louder. As in the Ifra Special Report 3.28, our first objective was to determine the state of the art. For this reason the investigations followed a similar pattern to those of the longitudinal register accuracy and we commissioned the same institute of the Technical University of Chemnitz to conduct them. The new ISO standard 12647-3 served as a reference and evaluation criterion
