Companies in Germany are again investing in printing centres.

On 10 September 2010 the new Druckzentrum Rhein Main, DRM (a joint venture of Medienhaus Südhessen in Darmstadt and Verlagsgruppe Rhein Main in Mainz), commenced production in Rüsselsheim.

At the end of October, Rheinisch-Bergische Druckerei (RBD) marked the successful completion of its wide-ranging extension project that included the installation of new printing equipment, and Mittelrhein-Verlag (MRV) announced the building of a EUR 42 million printing centre for which the ground-breaking ceremony was performed on 13 September.

In Weiden, Upper Palatinate, work began in June on a new EUR 25 million building project for the regional newspaper Der neue Tag; the new printing centre is scheduled to go into full operation before the end of the year.

Another new production building, the Druckzentrum Hohenlohe-Ostalb (DHO), is being constructed in Crailsheim. Contractors are the Neue Pressegesellschaft, Ulm (Südwest Presse), and die SDZ Druck und Medien in Aalen. Production at the new printing centre is scheduled to begin at the end of 2011.
