Pittsburgh, PA, April 4th, 2011 - Media General, publisher of Richmond Times-Dispatch and a number of other daily and weekly newspapers and associated websites, selected MWM System to deliver a CopyTrack 5 system to provide real-time production tracking and web-based reporting at its Hanover County production facility.
The system will be used to track all production jobs, from the pressroom, through the mailroom--and for the dailies--out onto the shipping dock. It will provide automated web-based production reports with a database that can be queried to analyze a wide range of operational data.
Darrell Foster, production manager of the Hanover facility said, “Media General selected MWM System’s CopyTrack 5 production information management system to insure accurate counting of good copies, waste and overruns throughout the facility. It will also be used to collect and analyze press and mail performance metrics to identify problem areas and opportunities for improvement. We believe that the system will pay for itself quickly by allowing us to reduce press order pads, overruns, restarts and downtime to increase overall productivity. The system will also be used to track newsprint consumption by reel for better web break reporting, and will generate and email reports that will be used by our accounting department for billing purposes.”
The Hanover facility produces Richmond Times-Dispatch (average daily circulation of 131,621 and 175,168 on Sundays), (Charlottesville) Daily Progress, (Northern Virginia) News & Messenger, a number of community weeklies, and a variety of commercial work.
“We are really looking forward to working together with the Hanover plant team to deliver the best possible solution for their needs. As the number of titles being produced in an individual facility increases, we believe that the ability to accurately track and evaluate the operation on a daily basis--which CopyTrack provides--is very important for companies that plan to be in the printing business for many years to come,” says Jonas Rehn, President at MWM System Inc.
The project will start in April 2011.
