13.06.11 - China and South East Asia have for many years been the most expanding market in the graphic industry. The Swedish printing press manufacturer Solna and its exclusive agent Ekpac Graphics Ltd. have once again proved their leading position in this market by signing a new contract with Hong Kong Economic Times (HKET) for supply of Solna D390, one of the world’s fastest web offset presses. The contract was signed during a solemn contract signing cermony in Hong Kong in the end of January this year, where representatives from HKET, Ekpac Graphics Ltd. and Solna were present.
During the last decade, Solna has, together with Ekpac Graphics Ltd., experienced a great success in China. Especially the lauch of the Solna D390 has been very successful, but also the product launch of its precursor D380 was very positive. In terms of sold units, Solna is now number two in China for single-width, single-round printing presses.
HKET is the leading financial daily in Hong Kong and an old and faithful Solna customer and user. By this new investment, HKET extends its exsiting printing fleet with a whole new Solna D390 press line, consisting of eight 4-high towers and one folder. Furthermore, their existing Solna D380 printing pressline will be extended with two additional 4-high towers D390. Start of production is planned to autumn 2011. After installtion of these recently ordered Solna printing units, HKET will, together with existing Solna presses, have 72 (2+1) printing units, 48 (1+1) printing units and 20 (2+2) printing units.
