The new sharing features offered by WoodWing´s new iPad Reader App 2.0 enable readers of iPad publications to conveniently share parts of the tablet page or the entire page via Twitter, Facebook and e-mail. In addition to the new iPad Reader App, WoodWing updated the native Reader Apps for Android and RIM's Playbook – readers will enjoy significant usability improvements, while publishers will benefit from enhanced distribution features.

Zaandam (The Netherlands) – July 21, 2011, WoodWing Software (www.woodwing.com), an innovation leader in the multi-platform tablet-publishing world, announced today the availability of version 2.0 of its native iPad Reader App as well as of upgrades to the Reader Apps for Android and RIM’s Playbook running Blackberry OS.

iPad Reader App 2.0 – sharing on a new level
According to analysts from The Nielsen Company, the average person around the globe spends five and a half hours per month on social media sites, up two hours from the year before. This indicates that sharing via social media is a crucial requirement for online users and that its importance will only continue to grow in the coming years – reason enough for WoodWing to enhance the social media sharing features of its Tablet Publishing Solution.

With version 2.0 of its iPad Reader App, WoodWing adds new sharing functionality that enables publishers to provide their readers with more options for sharing content with the global community. In addition to the URL-based sharing features offered by the previous version of the Reader App, the new sharing options allow users to share parts of the tablet page or the entire page via Twitter, Facebook and e-mail. When sharing a portion of the page, users are presented with a crop box they can resize or move with conveniently placed handles.

Android Reader App 1.2 for Froyo and Honeycomb – in-app billing and usability improvements
The new Android Reader App 1.2 enables publishers to use the Google in-App Billing framework for offering tablet publications for single purchase. In addition, WoodWing´s new Android Reader App offers a number of usability improvements such as new viewing and toolbar features as well as an option to display pages in text view.

Playbook Reader App 1.1 – subscription support
WoodWing´s native Reader App 1.1 for RIM’s Blackberry OS now brings subscription support to RIM´s Playbook tablet device. From the library, users can log in with an existing subscription account and download and access the issues of the publications they subscribed to. The new Playbook Reader App contains a host of usability enhancements, including the option to lock the page orientation, several new viewing options and a modified navigation bar.

“With the new versions of our native Reader Apps, we continue to support publishers worldwide to bring their tablet publishing strategies to life and to monetize their tablet content,” said Erik Schut, President of WoodWing Software. “With the new sharing capabilities offered by our iPad Reader App 2.0, we have set a new standard in usability, providing a best-of-class experience for iPad users.”
