Princeton, NJ, 25th July 2011 - As Media General invests in production efficiencies at its newspapers, three more properties have implemented NewsWay workflow automation and control software from ProImage.

The Culpeper Star-Exponent, VA; Florence Morning News, SC; and Dothan Eagle, AL, all have recently installed the browser-based solution.

John Barlow, Production Director, Florence Morning News said, “We’re very pleased with NewsWay. Compared to our previous system it’s like night and day. NewsWay has eliminated the wrong pages being sent to our print site, a problem that often we used to experience - and the software is also very easy to use.”

Faster pagination, improved connectivity
Output at Florence Morning News and Dothan Eagle is to Screen CTPs whilst at the Culpeper Star-Exponent output is to an Agfa CTP with back-up provided by output to a legacy ECRM filmsetter.

Jack Griffin, Regional Operations Manager at the Culpeper Star-Exponent, said, “Apart from speeding up imposition and pagination, NewsWay helps us to connect efficiently with other Media General properties.”

“We’re delighted to welcome more Media General properties to the NewsWay family,” said Rick Shafranek, VP Sales and Marketing, New-ProImage America. “Our software improves their throughput by intelligently load-balancing RIPs. It also saves pre-press time by generating page plans and automating page pairing and impositions and improves registration and color quality by locking color sets to the same CTP device.”  NewsWay also includes a host of other features that include support for stochastic screening, fan out, and soft proofing.

Other Media general properties already using NewsWay include the Hickory Daily Record, Hickory, NC; Herald-Courier, Bristol VA; The News & Advance, Lynchburg, VA; Opelika-Auburn News, AL; and the Richmond Times Dispatch, VA.
