02.08.11 - The first summer Media Games ended at RIA Novosti on July 29 with the final competition and the awards ceremony.
“The Media Games were a major event for Moscow journalists, who have shown by taking part that they share a pro-active attitude,” said Pyotr Belorybkin, an instructor at the RIA Novosti fitness center who helped organize the games.
“Although the games were held at the height of the holiday season, journalists, who are notoriously very busy people, took the event very seriously and did not concede a single technical defeat. I wish such competitions were held every year.”
On the last day of the games, six teams competed in table tennis, streetball and volleyball. The RIA Novosti team defeated the R-Sport rivals 2:0 and won the Volleyball Cup. Bronze went to radio Ekho Moskvy.
The R-Sport and Sports Broadcasting teams fought for the top prize in table tennis doubles. Victory went to the Mishnov brothers from the R-Sport team. The RIA Novosti team came third.
Sports Broadcasting also won the streetball competition, defeating the Student Community, while Ren-TV snatched bronze in a fierce battle against the RT television channel team.
Winners were awarded medals and commemorative prizes. The teams that won gold in each of the three disciplines also received the Media Games Cups.
