Last Saturday's BILD-Zeitung was published for the first time in the XXL format of 52.8 x 77.7 cm (approximately twice its regular size). By this unique action, BILD aimed to set a world record and thus secure its entry into the legendary Guinness Book of Records. Axel Springer reported that printing of the "biggest ever BILD" began already at 8.00 p.m. on Friday in the Druckhaus Spandau in Berlin. In order to realise this, all pages had to be produced as two-page spreads (rotated 90°).
BILD published a special edition also in 2010: it became the first German daily newspaper to appear completely in 3D.
