NELA announces the successful completion of 3-around print tests at large metro newspapers in the US.

As stated in a press release (August 29, 2011) a precision filler bar (patent pending) replaces the existing lock-ups to fill the gap and provide a flush cylinder surface.  NELA’s filler bar technology eliminates the need to replace the plate cylinder when converting to 3-around technology. The filler bar is precision machined to keep the cylinder balanced during high-speed printing.
3-around enables the printer to print three pages per revolution. Benefits are higher press productivity and over 30% reduction in newsprint consumption.

Mid of August The Columbus Dispatch signed a letter of intent with Pressline Services for a 3-around conversion.
