Direct-Mail company processing on an EasySert inserting line.

Regio Mag is a four-page A4 jacket product that is used every Saturday by Direktwerbung Bayern, a company owned by Mediengruppe Pressedruck, to deliver advertising supplements to a current total of 500,000 homes in the Augsburg region. In the past, compiling these 250 different sets advertising contents was done manually by the 5000 delivery staff. Now the processing is done automatically at the Augsburg printing centre using a Ferag EasySert inserting line with a capacity of some 800,000 brochures per hour. The inserting line is supplied by a Ferag FlyStream precollecting system equipped with 32 JetFeeder hopper stations and an integrated Intelligent Repair Control system. Two MultiStack compensating stackers are positioned at the end of the line. With its about 40 m length, it is currently the longest installation of its kind. According to Ferag, it is seen as a pilot installation in the German direct-mail industry.

Direct mail can develop to become an interesting secondary line of business for newspaper companies.
