Poynter and CCI Teaming up for Training and Technology

Poynter's faculty for Multimedia and Mobile, Regina McCombs coaches Lisa Anderson, Columbia Journalism Review fellow, during a recent seminar at the Institute's campus in St. Petersburg, Florida.

St. Petersburg, Florida, USA / Aarhus, Denmark, 04.10.11 - The Poynter Institute and Denmark-based CCI have agreed to join forces to provide Poynter's signature journalism and leadership training around the world to news organizations that use CCI's cross-platform content management solutions.

The Poynter/CCI seminar series were designed to help news organizations maximize the return on their investment in CCI software, manage change and ease the adaption of technology tools in their organizations.

CCI customers in the US include, among others, USA Today, The New York Times, the Chicago Tribune, and the Los Angeles Times. Worldwide, news organizations such as Germany's Die Welt, India's The Times of India, Hong Kong's South China Morning Post, and many others rely on CCI's solutions as the backbone of their news operations.

"Working with CCI gives Poynter a unique opportunity to reach newsrooms with important training just as they are implementing tools to make a difference in their work," said Poynter President Karen B. Dunlap. "We know from experience that the right tools, combined with the right skills, can produce journalism that is deeper, more engaging and far more likely to matter to the communities they serve."

Under the agreement, CCI customers will be able to organize on-site seminars conducted by Poynter faculty in the areas of core journalism skills and values, leadership and management and multimedia. Poynter faculty and CCI consultants can plan individual programs that address a CCI customer's particular training needs. Poynter and CCI have agreed that effective models and best practices can be shared among CCI customers and participants in other Poynter teaching sessions.
"Poynter will continue to provide training services to other organizations and CCI is free to do the same," said Dunlap.
