The reactions of readers and advertisers of the weekly newspaper were very positive, explains Natacha Alexandra Pastor, director of Terra Nostra. Right after publication of this micro edition they received congratulations and hundreds of positive comments, she said. Hundreds of copies were sold (although there was an uncertainty among readers about where to buy the paper) and there is, as she assures, a continuous request for copies coming from all over the world: Canada, Brazil, France, Germany, Netherlands, Japan, among other countries.
The 20 February was chosen as publication date because it is the World Day of Social Justice and the revenue from the sales will be donated to a charitable project. If the sum of money they planned to send to an organisation for the handicapped in São Miguel is not reached, the publisher promised to make up the difference.
The newspaper was printed on the presses of its printing company, Nova Grafica. The main challenge was, as Pastor explains, “to keep the best quality possible for type and images so they could be visualised and read without any problems [editor’s note: but certainly with a magnifying glass]. And we succeeded, as has been admitted and admired by the members of the Guinness World Record Committee”.
