Wounded in the rocket attack that killed two journalists and injured two more last week in the Syrian city of Homs, French journalist Edith Bouvier is now in Lebanon.

Bouvier crossed the Syrian-Lebanese border last night with the help of Syrian activists. A senior Lebanese security official says the journalist is now receiving treatment in a Beirut hospital and is expected to fly home later today.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy confirmed that Bouvier, along with fellow French journalist William Daniels, had been successfully smuggled into Lebanon.

Bouvier and Daniels are the latest foreign journalists to be evacuated out of Syria, after British journalist Paul Conroy and Spanish journalist Javier Espinosa successfully escaped the besieged city of Homs earlier this week.

The United Nations says that over 7,500 people have been killed in the violence since the uprising began on 15th March, 2011 in Syria.
