In each case a total of 28 criteria were evaluated on 32 pages per participant. Each newspaper starts out with the full number of points, from which deductions are then made, e.g., if there are visible smudges, plate edges, or ink smearing. The members of the international jury that convened at WAN-IFRA’s office in Darmstadt, Germany, included: Dr. Saad Rashid Al Dossary, Consultant and Trainer from Dammam, Saudi Arabia; Ignacio Prado from Asociation Técnica de Diarios Latinoamericanos (ATDL) in Lima, Peru; RP Lakshmivenkatraman from Kasturi & Sons Ltd. in Chennai, India; and Luca Michelli, WAN-IFRA’s representative in Italy who is a member of the board of the Italian publishers association, ASIG Service.
