According to a report published on Spiegel Online, the Frankfurter Rundschau (FR) filed for bankruptcy on 13 November 2012). This has been confirmed by a spokesperson for the local first-instance court.

The media group DuMont Schauberg, to which FR belongs, is reported to have denied rumours in October concerning a possible shutdown of the newspaper, which has long been recording losses.

At the time of going to press, the personnel were scheduled to be informed officially about the situation at an imminent employee meeting.
