09.02.2016 – Newspaper supplements enjoy continued popularity in many countries. Thanks to its efficiency in the mailroom, the Muller Martini FlexLiner inserting system plays a major part in meeting the booming demand for inserts.

At P.V.S, the three FlexLiners regularly run at their maximum speed of 30,000 cycles per hour.

With insert numbers at Prospekt Versand Service GmbH (P.V.S.) having increased by 44 percent within three years at its plant in the Hungarian city of Sopron, the company commissioned three new FlexLiners to join its ten existing inserting systems from Muller Martini in 2015. That allows the company to process some 190 metric tons of paper each day. “This machine from Muller Martini is a masterpiece,” says Managing Director Erich Romano, expressing his satisfaction with his latest investment. “I especially like the combination of the linear and rotational principles, which means that all inserts are first gathered, fed without grippers and then inserted.”

P.V.S. uses the three FlexLiners for products with three or more inserts, which account for around half of all its jobs. If the paper specification allows it, the three inserting systems run around the clock at their maximum speed of 30,000 cycles per hour, explains Erich Romano.

Thanks to its open system architecture, the FlexLiner can be extended as desired to meet new production requirements at any time. The FlexLiner can be expanded with two-piece or four-piece modules up to a maximum of 30 insert stations. The insert stations can be fed manually or using stream feeders as required. Additional possibilities are created by individual addressing in the delivery transporter and the integration of a labeling system or a card gluer.
