The German software manufacturer introduces new features like automated retouching of eyes in images, VDP (Variable Data Printing) and full support of PDF 2.0.

Regensburg, 06.10.2017 – In the upcoming weeks OneVision releases Generation 17.2, its second major software release this year. Customer centric and innovative by tradition: many customer wishes have been converted into new software features. At the same time trend-setting new technologies (PDF 2.0) are supported without delays.

Workspace even better – Automated processing of MS Office files

The new variant Workspace Pro X signals the next step towards even more process automation: The workflow management system processes files from MS Office and Libre Office and converts them into PDF automatically. The extended user management allows more user roles to be defined including adjustments of access rights. In addition, especially interesting for large format printers, jobs can be started directly on connected ONYX rips. Standard Workspace offers new features, too: Versioning of assembly lines allows tracking of configuration changes and restoring to earlier versions. Meaning undesired changes of the configuration can now be undone.

Amendo – Automated retouching of eyes

In version 17.2 Amendo focuses on even more automation of manual processes. Brightening eyes – a typical manual task in the workflow – can be automated, leading to faster retouching times and consistent high image quality. Amendo is optimized for processing natural images. Artificial images like cartoons, logos, screenshots or architect’s drawings can be scaled or color managed by Amendo, however optimizing colors in these image types is usually not desired. The image detection system can now identify these images and treat them separately.

Asura – PDF 2.0!

Asura, the industry standard for prepress software fully supports PDF 2.0. The new PDF version was released in July 2017 and Asura is one of the first professional software applications that fully supports PDF 2.0. Customers may use this to convert incoming PDF 2.0 files into PDF 1.3 for example, ensuring that other applications in the workflow can process these files. When activating 4D Color Management Technology the new rendering intent “4D color fidelity” can be used to preserve the original print behavior for 4C to 4C color conversions. Asura supports VDP – Variable Data Printing. In combination with Solvero, OneVision’s PDF editor, variable data such as addresses, graphics and images can be inserted into a PDF template for personalization. Resulting PDF files can be generated either manually with Solvero, or fully automated with Asura.

Generation 17.2 offers new functionalities that increase flexibility of the production workflow and lets OneVision customers continue to profit from automation at its highest level.
